South African Airways new business class
South African Airways has released images of the new business class seat on its A330-300 aircraft.
The fully-flat seat is configured in a staggered 1-2-1 layout, providing all 46 business class passengers with direct aisle access.
Features include 23 inches of seat width, a bed which extends to “almost two meters”, a 15-inch TV screen, individual power socket and USB port, and “a large tray table…” which “pops out when pushing the tray table button, which is more user-friendly than traditional tray tables”.
Business class amenities include noise cancelling headphones, an amenity kit, duvet and pillow.
There is also a new economy seat, offering 203 slimline seats, with 10.1-inch TV screens, individual USB charging ports, and shared access to power sockets.
The aircraft’s in-flight entertainment system also features several new benefits, including the option to display a low-light notice on the screen advising cabin crew whether the passenger wishes to be woken for meals, and the ability to stream selected content directly to personal devices via the carrier’s Airs cape IFE app.
SAA says that the design of the new seat and business class cabin “resembles the elegant surroundings of our airport lounges, where warm neutrals invite you to feel at home”.
The carrier has a total of five A330-300s on order, with two currently in service and the remainder set to be delivered this year.
